Bird Valley is a nod to the “Pajaro Valley” where I was raised and the lush agricultural history of the area. Pajaro (PAH-hah-roh) is spanish for Bird. Bird Valley Foodstuff is a food seasoning and condiment company influenced by the simpler times of days gone by, when real ingredients were used in preparing real food for our families.
The “California Quail” represents many things and is the perfect brand ambassador of Bird Valley Foodstuff. First it has the honor of being the state bird of California since 1931. Second has to be it’s good looks, the California Quail is a handsome, plump, ball of a bird, with a rich gray breast, intricately scaled underparts, a forward-drooping head plume, black bib, and a white stripe under the beak. Thirdly is their ambitious daily activities, California Quail spend most of their time on the ground, walking and scratching at the earth in search of food. Last but not least, quail are just as delicious on the plate as cool as they are in the wild.
Chef Jacob Wildman is the founder and creative force behind Bird Valley Foodstuff. Wildman was born and raised on California’s Central Coast and studied Culinary Arts and Patisserie in Hawai’i. He spent the better part of the last fifteen years working in some of the best restaurants in Los Angeles before moving on to cook privately for professional athletes.
Over the last few years, while cooking privately for NBA stars Paul George of the Indiana Pacers and Reggie Jackson of the Detroit Pistons, among others, Wildman created Bird Valley Foodstuff to share his enthusiasm for wholesome food by bringing the same delicious, healthy flavors he uses everyday for his clients into households around the world.
The life of your spices can best be preserved by storing them sealed in air-tight containers, set in cool, dark, and dry locations with limited exposure to sunlight, moisture, and heat. Prolonged exposer to air and sunlight will degrade the color and flavor of your spices.
Clumping may occur due to excessive moisture being introduced into your spice jar. Our spice blends do not contain chemical anti-caking agents and over time, depending on usage, the spices may become clumped together which can be broken apart and used as normal.
Best use would be to avoid shaking spices out of the jar directly over a steaming pot or pan of cooking food, season foods before cooking or utilize the spoon dispenser portion of the shaker cap to prevent the introduction of moisture and potential absorption.
When stored in optimum conditions your spices may remain usable for several years. If used properly your Bird Valley Foodstuff spice blend will be replenished long before it will ever be unusable. Our best by date is simply a recommendation on optimal flavor and does not mean your spices are unusable after the printed date. Always use your best judgement when determining if a product is still good to use after the best by date.

The countries of origin for the spices used in our blends are subject to change with market conditions and availability of ingredients, and are available upon request. All of the herbs and spices we use must meet our stringent standards for high quality and we do our best to purchase as close to home as possible.
Herbs and spices, by nature, are gluten free. None of our products contain gluten. If you have any specific questions about our products, we welcome you to contact us directly.
All of our Bird Valley Foodstuff spice blends are vegetarian. Only our Rancho el Pajaro seasoning is not vegan as it has buttermilk for an authentic Ranch taste (it is still Preservative and MSG free). In most instances, the spice blend in question can be used by both meat and vegetable lovers alike to give your recipes an added boost of flavor. What’s listed on the label is what you get, no funny stuff.
Aside from the kosher salt that is used, we do not add any form of preservative nor do they contain msg, fillers, or anti-caking agents.
Our products are manufactured in a facility that DOES NOT PROCESS PEANUTS OR SHELLFISH, however they do process soy, wheat, and eggs.
While our products don’t contain any of these ingredients, if you are severely allergic to any of these items we recommend you consult your doctor before use.

All of our blends are low sodium and consist of calorie free herbs and spices.
Many seasonings in this industry can contain hundreds of milligrams of sodium per serving, which can pose as a risk for many people. Here at Bird Valley Foodstuff we take that risk in to consideration by minimizing the salt content and offering low sodium spice blends.
